FAQ

FAQ — Bond Street Wine

We've answered the most common questions about our wines, storage, and purchasing conditions below. For specific investment enquiries or individual references, contact us directly.

Authenticity & Provenance

How do you verify the authenticity of your wines?
Every wine in our catalogue is sourced through established relationships with producers, négociants, and châteaux — built over years of operating in the fine wine market. Full provenance documentation accompanies every reference, and for wines of exceptional value, we conduct additional verification of condition, history, and supporting paperwork before listing.

Can I buy wine as an investment?
Yes. Our catalogue is curated with the investor in mind — Bordeaux grand crus, iconic vintages, limited-production references, and En Primeur allocations with strong track records. Every wine is held In Bond, which means no UK duty or VAT until you choose to withdraw it — a significant advantage for those holding wine as an asset. For tailored investment guidance, contact us directly.

Storage & Custody

How is my wine stored?
All wines in our portfolio are held within HMRC-approved bonded warehouses operating to the highest standards of security, temperature control, and traceability. Your wine remains In Bond until you instruct otherwise — protected, insured, and fully documented at every stage.

What does In Bond mean?
In Bond means your wine is stored in an HMRC-approved facility without UK duty or VAT applied. You only pay those costs if and when you choose to withdraw the wine for personal consumption or delivery to an address in the UK. This structure is standard practice for fine wine investment and makes pricing significantly cleaner and more transparent.

Is Bond Street Wine regulated?
Yes. We are registered on the HMRC Approved Wholesalers Register (AWRS), the mandatory accreditation for businesses supplying alcohol wholesale in the UK. Every transaction meets full regulatory requirements.

Purchasing & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, processed securely through Shopify Payments. For high-value transactions, we can also arrange bank transfer — contact us before placing your order.

Do you offer volume or trade pricing?
Yes. For multi-case purchases or multiple references, we offer tailored conditions. Contact us at info@bondstreetwine.co.uk to discuss your requirements.

Can I sell a bottle or collection through you?
In certain cases we facilitate discreet buy-sell operations for references of significant value. If you have a bottle or collection you wish to sell, contact us with the details and we will respond with complete confidentiality.

En Primeur

What is En Primeur?
En Primeur is the practice of purchasing wine before it is bottled — directly from the château or domaine, at pre-release prices. It offers first-owner provenance and, for the right vintages, meaningful price appreciation by the time the wine is released. Our En Primeur selection is updated annually and focuses on appellations and producers with strong secondary market performance.

When will I receive my En Primeur wine?
En Primeur wines are typically delivered 18 to 24 months after the harvest vintage, once bottled and released by the producer. In the meantime, your purchase is documented and held In Bond.

Returns

What is your returns policy?
We accept return requests within 30 days of receipt. The wine must be in its original condition — unopened, with intact capsule and original packaging. All returns require prior contact with our team. UK statutory rights apply in full.
